Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 5, 2025

Thank you for using Cheasy Apply ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension (the "Service"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the Service includes:

Personal Data

Personally identifiable information, such as your name and email address, which you provide to us when you register with the Service using Google Sign-In or Email OTP.

Resume and Profile Data

To provide the core functionality of the Service, we collect and store the content of resumes you upload. This includes:

  • The full text content of your resume PDF.
  • A structured JSON representation of your resume, which may contain personal details such as your work experience, education history, skills, and contact information (e.g., phone number, address, links to professional profiles).
  • Multiple versions of your resume profile created through manual edits or AI-powered optimizations.

This information is stored securely in your browser’s local storage to ensure you have primary control over it.

Usage Data

Information that is automatically collected when you use the Service, such as your credit usage history, features used, and transaction logs. This information is stored on our servers to manage your account and our credit system. We do not use third-party analytics services like Google Analytics on the frontend of the extension.

Automatically Collected Information

We only collect your IP address when you voluntarily sign up for our waitlist, for the purpose of preventing spam and abuse. We do not log IP addresses for authenticated users of the extension during normal operation.

2. How We Use Your Information

Having accurate information about you permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the Service to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Provide the core AI-powered features of the Service, such as resume parsing, job analysis, and content generation.
  • Manage the credit-based usage system.
  • Communicate with you regarding your account or support requests.
  • Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the Service.
  • Ensure the security of our Service and prevent fraudulent activity.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations.

With AI Service Providers

To provide our core AI-powered features, we use trusted third-party AI Service Providers. Our primary providers include OpenRouter and Google (for its Gemini models). If we change or add providers in the future, we will update this policy.

  • For Resume Parsing: When you upload a resume, the full, raw text extracted from the PDF is sent to an AI Service Provider to be converted into a structured format. This is necessary for the initial creation of your profile. This raw text may contain sensitive, personally identifiable information from your resume.
  • For Job Analysis and Optimization: When you use features like job analysis or resume optimization, we send relevant, non-personally identifiable parts of your profile (such as your professional summary, skills, and work experience) and the job description text to our AI Service Providers.

We have selected our AI Service Providers based on their privacy-conscious policies. By default, these providers do not use the data we send them to train their models, nor do they retain the data for longer than necessary to process the request.

For Authentication

We use Google’s OAuth service to allow you to sign in with your Google account. When you use this service, we share information with Google as described in their privacy policy.

By Law or to Protect Rights

If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.

4. Data Storage and Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. This includes using TLS encryption for all data transmitted between the extension and our servers, encrypting sensitive account information at rest in our database, and relying on the built-in sandboxing and security features of the Google Chrome browser to protect data stored locally on your machine. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

Data stored in your browser, such as your resume profiles, is under your control. This data will remain on your computer even if you uninstall the Chrome Extension. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser’s storage for our extension.

5. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information and usage data for as long as your account is active. If your account is inactive for a period of 24 consecutive months, we may delete your data as part of our data hygiene protocols. You can request deletion at any time, as described in the "Your Data Rights" section below.

6. Your Data Rights & International Compliance

We are committed to ensuring you have control over your personal data, in compliance with regulations like GDPR and CPRA.

Legal Basis for Processing (for EEA/UK Users)

We process your personal data based on contractual necessity (to provide the Service you signed up for) and your consent (which you provide by agreeing to this policy and using the Service).

Access and Correction

You can review and edit your resume and profile information at any time within the Chrome Extension.

Deletion

You may request to delete your account and all associated data at any time. To do so, please send an email with your request to [email protected] from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request in a timely manner.

Data Portability

You have the right to request an export of your personal data in a machine-readable format (JSON). To request your data, please contact us at [email protected].

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. By creating an account, you confirm that you are over 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date of this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email to the address associated with your account. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of our practices.
